SPARTA — The topic of the Sparta Camera Club’s Wednesday, April 24, program will be “Depth of Field” presented by avid nature photographer Mike Tracy.

Depth of field is a concept that describes the degrees of sharpness in a photograph using various settings and lenses.

The program covers both shallow depth of field and great depth of field for all skill levels.

Tracy, known for his nature and dragonfly photographs, will describe how to obtain both effects along with when to use each effect.

Tracy uses examples from his work — many captured from a kayak on Sussex County lakes — to illustrate how he obtains various depth of field effects.

His award-winning work appears regularly in Sussex County exhibits and galleries, such as the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council, Lusscroft Farm, the Sparta Historical Society and Sparta Camera Club’s Photo Expo.

The talk, which starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Sparta Ambulance Building, 14 Sparta Ave., is free and open to the public.
