Nintendo Switch gamers may have an announcement they didn’t see coming just around the corner.

The hit hybrid console has recently had its second birthday, and 2019 is turning out to be a big year for Ninty’s hugely popular system.

Nintendo has plenty of great exclusives in the works as they try to keep the sales momentum going for the Switch.

From Animal Crossing Switch, to Fire Emblem Three Houses, to Pokemon Sword and Shield – there are some huge Switch games coming out in 2019.

Fans have plenty to look forward to this year, but there could be one surprise announcement around the corner.

Google are believed to be getting ready to lift the lid on their much rumoured new games console.

At GDC 2019 on March 19 Google will reveal all on the “future of gaming” with a streaming service and new console rumoured to be unveiled.

And according to latest rumours, Nintendo may be offering support for Google’s gaming vision.

As revealed in a post by Nintendo Life, Google has been testing the compatibility of Switch controllers with their Chrome browser.

The search engine giant has reportedly been testing the compatibility of Switch Joy-Cons and the Switch Pro Controller with Chrome.

These controllers were tested in both USB and Bluetooth modes.

Explaining the ramifications of this in a post online, Chrome Unboxed said: “From the looks of the commit and the included bug report, the [Google] team is working on getting the details ironed out to not only have the [Switch] controller noticed by the OS, but to allow Chrome to handle the actual implementation.”

It remains to be seen whether the final Google streaming service will support Switch controllers or if this way simply a test.

But it wouldn’t be the first time Nintendo and Google have worked together.

They previously partnered to create motion-based AR experiences for the Wii U using Google Street View.

The news will surely spark plenty of speculation about what Google is working on, but thankfully fans don’t have long to wait to find out for certain.

Google’s big GDC 2019 gaming announcement will take place at 5pm UK time on Tuesday March 19.
