Prince Harry’s Oura titanium sleep and activity tracker ring (from £275, Oura Health, ouraring.com) caused a stir last week, and there are plenty more where that came from.
The ring, by Finnish company Oura Health, measures activity, heart rate and sleep, feeding information back to an app.
And with fitness accessories fast becoming as much of a status symbol as a designer handbag, ‘smart jewellery’ is the latest must-have. Few of us want to be wearing an ugly fitness band 24/7.
Here we round up some of the best and most stylish fitness trackers to be seen with…
Fashionably fit jewellery
Fitbit Flex 2 Gold necklace or bangle, from £69.99 each for the steel version (Fitbit not included). Fitbit.com
Following the stir surrounding Prince Harry’s activity tracker ring, Anabel Cutler rounded up a selection of the most stylish smart jewellery. The swim-friendly Fitbit Flex 2 is available as either a Gold necklace or bangle (pictured)
The best-selling Fitbit Flex 2 modular tracking module has received a fashion-forward makeover in the form of a pretty item of jewellery to hide it in.
Choose either a steel, 22ct gold-plated or rose-gold-plated bangle, or a steel or 22ct gold-plated necklace.
The Fitbit Flex is still one of the best fitness trackers on the market and the Fitbit Flex 2 is their first swim-friendly version, safe at 50 metres.
Unlike the Flex 1 this also has smartphone notifications and vibrates to notify you of calls and texts.
Tap the Flex to check how far you are from your daily fitness goals and daily activity progress including steps taken, distance walked, calorie output, inactive time, active time and sleep time. Rechargeable battery, up to five days charge.
As this is technically a Fitbit housed in a metal casing, you get all the positives of Fitbit technology as well as a pretty item of jewellery to hide it in.
With the urban woman in mind
Bellabeat Leaf Urban, from £129.99 at Amazon.co.uk
Bellabeat Leaf Urban (pictured) is designed with a holistic lifestyle in mind. Anabel revealed it can be used to track menstrual cycles as well as pregnancy
This eco-friendly tracker is ingeniously disguised to look like a leaf-shaped pendant. Designed specifically with women in mind, it takes a more holistic approach than other fitness accessories — so you can follow mindfulness meditation sequences and breathing exercises on the app as well as tracking menstrual cycles and pregnancy.
Plus it’ll do all the other stuff like record your active minutes, calories burned, distance travelled, sleep duration and sleep quality automatically.
Simply tap twice on this little wearable device to sync with a companion app.
Water resistant and eco-friendly. No charging, simply replace the batteries every six months. You can wear the Leaf Urban as a bracelet, necklace, or brooch (a necklace and leather bracelet are included in the box). There are four models to choose from, each with a different design, mount and colour.
Super-chic for swimmers
Misfit Ray Leather Activity Tracker, £39.99, amazon.co.uk
Misfit Ray Leather Activity Tracker (pictured) is ideal for swimmers as it is waterproof for up to 50 metres. Anabel claims the gadget can also trigger playing Spotify and taking a selfie
A super-chic, functional tracker that monitors specific activities such as steps taken, calories burned and distance travelled, along with your sleep patterns. It’s also waterproof up to 50 metres. The Ray sends notifications and alerts for calls and texts via LED, and can trigger actions including play Spotify, take a selfie, and operate home smart gadgets. No charging required, just replace batteries every four months.
This is a good-looking slim metal cylinder that is slightly curved to make it comfy to wear.
It comes in a neutral colour palette that is discreet and will easily blend in with other jewellery. Choose from a silicon or leather band and you can also buy a lariat necklace or a number of different coloured bands to accessorise outfits.
Timely, smart and stylish
Michael Kors Access Runway, from £269, michaelkors.co.uk
Michael Kors Access Runway (pictured) can be customised by uploading a pictured from social media onto the face. Anabel revealed it can be used for navigation and playing music
This is the newest designer smartwatch from fashion designer Michael Kors in collaboration with Fossil.
Built-in GPS tracking, Google Pay and an optical heart rate sensor are all additions to this model, which is water resistant up to 30 metres. And how smart is this — you can upload pictures from your social media feeds onto the watch and customise the face.
Plus it has all the features you’d expect from Google’s wearable OS such as Google Fit, apps, navigation, notifications and music playback controls. The battery life is around 24 hours then you can recharge.
Less chunky and more stylish than most other smartwatches out there, it comes in gold, rose gold, silver and two-tone stainless steel with a range of watch strap styles, including a silicone one that’s best for the gym.
