Steven Adams has been caught red-handed with an expletive-laden rant directed at a referee’s call.
The big Kiwi centre was knocked to the floor late in the fourth quarter of Oklahoma City Thunder’s 120-111 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night (Tuesday NZT) and was obviously concerned the referee was going to call him for a foul.
“What the f… did he just call,” Adams questioned as his teammates helped him to his feet.
Aside from his verbal outburst, Adams was quiet on the court with nine points and just one rebound.
Playing at home, the Thunder held a 68-49 halftime lead.
The match, between two of the leading teams in the Western Conference, was billed as a potential playoff preview.
Adams’ teammate Russell Westbrook (21 points) set an NBA record with his 10th straight triple-double and Paul George scored 47 points.
The Thunder’s next match is at home to the Washington Wizards on Monday (NZT).
