Blizzard WARNING, Winter Weather ADVISORY, and Winter Storm WATCH.

A Blizzard WARNING has been issued for:

–Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis county from 6PM Sunday to 4PM Monday.

A Blizzard WARNING means that the following conditions are occurring or expected within the next 12 to 18 hours:

–Snow and/or blowing snow reducing visibility to 1/4 mile or less for 3 hours or longer.
–Sustained winds of 35 mph or greater or frequent gusts to 35 mph or greater.

Lake effect snow is expected Sunday evening, especially for far northern counties. Wind gusts up to 70-75 MPH will produce severe blowing and drifting snow with whiteout conditions possible.

If your area has a Blizzard WARNING, here is what you should do:

— Significant winter weather will be occurring in the warned area. Be prepared for difficult and hazardous travel at times in the warned area.
— Keep an eye on Interactive Doppler and Triple Doppler radars on CNYcentral.com.
— Keep your phone with your CNYcentral mobile app turned on so if warnings are issued you will know.
— Periodically check NBC-3, CBS-5 and CW-6 for updates on the weather and possible issuance of lake effect snow warnings and advisories.
— Know which county you live in, and where you are in relation to other counties, especially if you are travelling.
— Have a winter storm kit ready in your car in case you are stranded.

A Winter Storm WATCH is in effect for:

–Oneida county from Sunday evening through Monday evening.

If your area has a Winter Storm WATCH, here is what you should do:

— Go about your normal activities, but be aware of the possibility of heavier snow during the period mentioned above in the counties outlined.
— Keep an eye on Interactive Doppler and Triple Doppler radars on CNYcentral.com.
— Keep your phone with your CNYcentral mobile app turned on so if warnings are issued you will know.
— Periodically check NBC-3, CBS-5 and CW-6 for updates on the weather and possible issuance of lake effect snow warnings and advisories.
— Know which county you live in, and where you are in relation to other counties, especially if you are travelling.
— If you need to travel, be prepared for very difficult driving conditions.
— Have a winter storm kit ready in your car in case you are stranded.

A Winter Weather ADVISORY is in effect for:

–Ostego county from 7AM Saturday evening through 5AM Sunday.
–Herkimer county from 9PM Saturday evening through 7AM Sunday.

Mixed precipitation is expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of up to one inch are possible along with a light glaze of ice.

If your area has a Winter Weather ADVISORY, here is what you should do:

— Know which county you live in, and where you are in relation to steady snow.
— While the amount of snow in the advisory area will not be overwhelming, enough snow will occur to cause snow covered and slippery conditions, especially on untreated and unplowed roads.
— Have a winter storm kit ready in your car in case you are stranded.
